Dear Evergreen Families,
This week, students across the school had the opportunity to work with Quest Theatre to collaboratively create and perform original plays. Using a shared mentor text or word as inspiration, each class developed completely unique stories filled with creativity, humour, teamwork, and imagination.
Our Kindergarten students blasted off into outer space, where they encountered tiny aliens and explored life beyond Earth.
The Grade 2 students created an Olympic soccer adventure filled with teamwork, competition, and excitement.
The Grade 3 students developed a hilarious story about four “Karens” who went to McDonald’s only to discover the ice cream machine was not working. After speaking to their managers, they unexpectedly encountered dragons! Although the dragons did not have managers to speak to, everyone eventually worked through their problems, and the ice cream machines ended up working again.
The Grade 4 classes created literacy-inspired adventures connected to stories and books. One class had to catch stories Pokémon-style in order to save a dilapidated library. Another class entered stories themselves while trying to pass a final report before moving on to the next grade. A third class travelled through different stories to help fill empty books with imagination and adventure.
It was wonderful to see students bringing their ideas to life through acting, storytelling, problem-solving, and collaboration. Quest Theatre did an amazing job encouraging creativity and helping students build confidence while having a lot of fun throughout the week. We cannot wait to see what week 2 has in store for students.
