Dear Evergreen Families,
Week two of our Quest Residency did not disappoint. Our kindergarten students presented Whose Shoes Will I Wear When I Grow Up?, imagining themselves in the roles of firefighters, doctors, teachers, and other grown-ups as they discovered that being an adult can be both rewarding and exhausting.
Grade 1 students in Mrs. Gullion’s class explored growth in The Rose and the Beanstalk, learning that just as plants need soil and water, friendships grow through kindness, cooperation, and connection. Mrs. Byciuk’s students brought audiences to a stormy farm where animals went missing in a powerful storm in Blown Away. The farmers set out on a journey to locate the missing animals, investigating clues that took them from airports and zoos to the Calgary Stampede before finally reuniting with their animal friends and returning home.
Grade 2 Ms. Bonneau’s students took audiences on A Fear-Filled Walk in the Woods, where a camping trip in Kananaskis became an adventure of courage and self-discovery. As storms rolled in and mysterious sounds echoed through the forest, students faced their fears, encountered Bigfoot, and discovered that the unknown is not always as frightening as it seems.
Grade 3 productions showcased creativity and perseverance in many forms. In The Cursed Mall, students in Mrs. Bower’s class uncovered mysterious monsters hidden in the back rooms of a shopping mall while navigating unusual encounters and surprising makeovers. The Mysterious Space Dungeon of Doom sent Mrs. Decottignies students on an intergalactic mission to restore a vital energy source after asteroids destroyed Earth's power supply. Along the way, they demonstrated determination and teamwork while overcoming obstacles and facing fearsome creatures.
Our Grade 5 students delighted audiences with a variety of imaginative and engaging performances. In Ms. Byrne's class, The Curious Case of the Missing Teacher and the Infinity Burger followed Gizmo, a dog equipped with a translator, as he enlisted students to help rescue his kidnapped mother. Their search led them through a McDonald's PlayPlace, a mysterious portal, and the strange world of the Backrooms, where they encountered burger zombies and an evil twin named Ozmo. Through teamwork, problem-solving, and plenty of humor, the students uncovered the truth, rescued Ms. Byrne, identified the real Gizmo, and safely returned to Evergreen School.
Ms. Yu's class presented Dunkin' Donuts, a comedic mystery set in a busy donut shop. When a shy customer found himself at the center of a donut theft, the story quickly transformed into a courtroom drama filled with quirky witnesses, confused testimony, and plenty of laughs. After chasing down the true culprits and recovering the missing donuts, justice was served, and the shy customer finally found his voice in time to order the last remaining donut.
Mr. Chameroy's class captivated the audience with The Library of Unfinished Words. After discovering mysterious letters beneath their pillows, students were invited to a magical and mysterious library where words themselves came to life. As words such as "hide," "attack," and "destroy" threatened to take over, students learned that kindness, cooperation, and positive language could transform negativity into hope. Through their efforts, words changed from "unknown" to "known," "sick" to "well," and "hide" to "found," ultimately transforming the Library of Unfinished Words into the Library of Finished Words.
Ms. Roworth's class brought imagination and humor together in Storybook Circus. When circus workers went on strike because they wanted story time, beloved characters including Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, and even Michael Jackson found themselves caught in a magical adventure. Faced with a curse that threatened to ruin story time forever, the characters had to complete a series of entertaining challenges, including walking a tightrope, clowning around, and solving puzzles. Through teamwork, creativity, and perseverance, they worked their way through the circus and discovered that every great story depends on imagination and collaboration.
The Quest Theatre residency provided students with an opportunity to strengthen their confidence, creativity, communication, and teamwork while discovering the joy of performance. We are incredibly grateful to Quest Theatre for sharing their expertise and helping our students bring these memorable stories to life. The enthusiasm, imagination, and courage displayed by our young actors made this residency an unforgettable experience for our entire school community. We are also grateful to our Parent Advisory Council for sponsoring this residency for our students.
UPDATES AND INFORMATION
Cyber Safety Presentation: As technology and social media continue to play an increasing role in our children’s lives, it is important that students learn how to navigate the online world safely and responsibly. To support this learning, YouthLink Calgary, in partnership with the Calgary Police Youth Foundation, will be hosting a virtual presentation for all Evergreen families on Thursday, June 11, @ 6:00pm.
The internet and social media are powerful tools for connection, education, and communication. However, they can also present risks related to privacy, cyberbullying, and online safety. This presentation is designed to help families better understand these risks and provide them with practical strategies to protect their children while they use the internet and smart devices.
The session will explore topics such as:
- Social Media and Well-Being – understanding the benefits and challenges of social media and how it can impact mental health.
- Responsible Online Behaviour – learning strategies for positive digital interactions and responsible social media use.
- Protecting Personal Information – understanding privacy settings, terms of service, and how to keep personal information safe online.
- Cyberbullying Awareness – recognizing and responding to cyberbullying and helping create a respectful online environment.
- Online Risks and Scams – learning how to identify scams, phishing attempts, and other online threats.
The goal of this presentation is to empower parents and families to support their children with knowledge and tools to help them make safe and responsible choices online.
We kindly ask that you RSVP using the following link (Outreach Program Registration Form- Evergreen PTA – Fill out form) as we need 10 confirmed attendees for the session to run.

Lost and Found: With cooler mornings and warmer afternoons, jackets often come off during outdoor play - and sometimes don’t make it back inside with the student! Please remind your child to check the lost and found for any missing items. Families will also have an opportunity to browse the lost and found later this month.
School Bus Service for 2026-2027: Families are now able to apply for yellow school bus service for the 2026-27 school year. Service levels and fees are outlined below. Registration is available through your MyCBE account. (If you do not already have an account, learn how.)
Families must apply by Sunday, June 14, 2026 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year. We continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 14 deadline will be delayed. It may take until mid-October before your child is able to ride the bus.
Confirmed routes will be posted in MyCBE in August. More information about fees can be found on our website.
Have a wonderful rest of your Sunday!
