Dear Evergreen Families,

As the school year ends, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we have shared together this year. It has been filled with growth, accomplishments, and many memories.

This year we gathered as a school community around the theme, Every Word Tells a Story, which beautifully reflects the heart of our school community as a place where every voice matters, every experience is valued, and every learner is encouraged to grow.

Inspired by Tom Read Wilson’s book, Every Word Tells a Story, and connected to our School Development Plan focus on linguistic vocabulary, this theme reminds us that words are much more than letters on a page. Words carry history, emotion, identity, culture, and connection.

Throughout this school year, our students and staff explored the power of language in meaningful and creative ways. From mentor texts that celebrated perseverance, identity, and imagination, to rich classroom conversations about names, storytelling, vocabulary, and belonging, to our concerts and Quest Theater Residency, students discovered that their words have the ability to inspire, connect, and create change.

We also reflected deeply on the importance of identity and voice. As highlighted in our theme resources, our names and words tell stories about who we are, where we come from, and the communities to which we belong. By honouring each individual’s voice, language, and lived experiences, we continue to build a school culture grounded in dignity, respect, empathy, and inclusion.

Congratulations to our incredible Grade 5 students! Middle school is fortunate to welcome such thoughtful and capable young people. Continue building connections, embracing new opportunities, and making the world a more compassionate and inclusive place.

Thank you to all our students for sharing your ideas, creativity, and voices so courageously. Thank you to our staff for nurturing curiosity and fostering a love of language and learning every day. And thank you to our families for your continued partnership and support. On behalf of the entire Evergreen School community, I would like to extend sincere thanks to our School Council Executive and Parent Advisory Council. Their dedication, generosity, and hard work continue to strengthen the vibrant and connected community we are proud to be a part of.

As we look back on this school year, may we remember that every conversation, every act of kindness, every challenge overcome, and every word shared has helped tell the story of our community.

Together, we have written an incredible chapter.

Next Year Information

Our student numbers continue to fluctuate daily as we welcome students from the developing communities of Wolf Willow, Alpine Park, and Vermillion Hill.  As such, we will wait until August to share grade configuration and staffing plans with you.
