School Forms: We will be sending home information this week regarding school forms that need to be completed for this school year. Please complete these as soon as possible.
Relaxed Entry: Staring on Tuesday, September 5th we will begin our relaxed entry procedure. Please find attached a map, which shows the four relaxed entry doors. For those of you new to Evergreen School, relaxed entry allows for a smoother, less restrictive entry process. It reduces the stress and congestion during morning arrivals by allowing students to enter the closest of the 4 assigned doors between 8: 20 am and 8:30am. This will provide for a more efficient flow of students into the building and prevent overcrowding at the doors. It also allows siblings to enter the school together.
Upon entering the school students will make their way to their homeroom classrooms where teachers will be supervising until the 8:30am bell signaling the start of the school day. We encourage students to arrive in a staggered manner, avoiding the rush of everyone arriving at once. There is no supervision outside the school in the morning as teachers are inside supervising in their classrooms. Please do not arrive before 8:20am. School starts at 8:30am.
Dismissal of students at the end of the school day will continue to be from their designated doors. Please see map attached. For ease of pick-up, siblings may exit via the same door. We are asking that the older sibling meet up and exit via the younger sibling’s designated dismissal door.
Allergy Aware: Evergreen is an allergy aware school. We have a number of students with life threatening allergic responses to peanuts and tree nuts. We kindly ask that you do not send foods with these ingredients to school in your child’s snacks or lunches so that we can keep everyone safe. We aim to create an environment where students with allergies can thrive while fostering a culture of understanding and support among all students. If your child has any allergies, please ensure that you provide us with accurate and updated medical information to support our efforts in keeping them safe.
Ongoing Communication: At Evergreen, we believe that effective communication about learning requires the teacher, student, and families to be partners in the learning process. We use a number of methods to communicate with students and their families on a regular basis.
- Evergreen Weekly: You will receive an update from Administration weekly sharing important news, information and dates. Please watch for this in your e-mail on Sunday morning.
- Evergreen School Website: Remember to check out our website - we are making changes all the time. Please give us a couple of weeks to make updates for this school year.
- Your child’s teacher: Your child’s teacher is the first point of contact regarding any questions or concerns you have with respect to their learning and well-being. E-mail is the best way to get in touch with your child’s teacher. Teachers are not regularly checking their e-mail during the school day as they are teaching and working with students. They will respond to e-mails before and after the school day. If there is time sensitive information, please call the school office (403) 777-6288 to get this information to your child’s teacher. Please be mindful that during the evening, teachers are taking care of their own families and e-mails sent after 4:30pm may not be seen until the following workday. Likewise, weekends are personal time and meant for relaxing and recharging; we want our teachers to maintain a healthy work-life balance. E-mails sent over the weekend may not be seen until Monday. You should receive a response from your child’s teacher within two working days.
- SchoolMessenger: Administration and teachers use an application called SchoolMessenger to send school notifications to families in a number of ways such as voice, text and email etc. Please see the Subscribe to Stay Informed information to ensure you are receiving all information from Evergreen School.
- Information Handouts: Please watch your child’s backpack for important informational handouts such as Field-Trip forms and other communications that come home in paper copy. To conserve resources we will be sending home most things digitally this year.
Noon Supervision for Grades One to Five: Registration for noon supervision is now open. Please register if your student will be staying at school during lunch time. Fees will be assigned in October.
