Evergreen Weekly for January 22, 2023
Dear Evergreen Families,
Have you heard your child “popping” their sounds lately, or talking about phonemes and graphemes, morphemes or spelling patterns? Teachers are busy providing highly explicit and systematic teaching of foundational decoding and spelling skills to support your children as readers and authors.
UPDATES AND INFORMATION
Report Cards: Report cards will be available for online viewing through your MyCBE PowerSchool account on January 30th. Report cards reflect achievement of the learning outcomes taught and assessed during the first reporting period. If your child’s learning is supported through an IPP (Individual Program Plan), an updated hard copy of this will be sent home on January 30th as the IPP and report card work together to share information related to your child’s progress and achievement.
The following resources are available to support you when reviewing your child’s report card:
· CBE’s Assessment and Reporting Website for parents
If you have questions or concerns about your child’s report card, please contact their homeroom teacher.
Family Literacy Week: Family literacy focusses on parents, grandparents and other family members to improve the reading and writing skills of the whole family. By reading to children and engaging in fun literacy activities regularly, adults keep their own skills sharp and help their children improve. Family literacy activities strengthen the relationship between family members which, in turn, encourages lifelong learning. Without adult support and a strong foundation at home, a child is less likely to be successful and engaged in school. Please see below for more information and activities to promote family literacy.
Yearbook: We are currently working on our yearbook for the 2023-2024 school year. Order your yearbook today at ybpay.ca Yearbook ID Code: 10778824, $23
Have a wonderful rest of your Sunday!
Sincerely, Angela, Kim and the Evergreen Staff
