Dear Evergreen Families,

As we approach Family Day, I would like to take a moment to reflect on its meaning and importance within our school community. Family Day was first introduced in Alberta in 1990 by then-Premier Don Getty, with the intention of recognizing the value of family and the importance of balance in our lives.

Family Day invites us to celebrate family in its many forms, not only those we are born into, but also the meaningful connections we build over time. Family represents care, encouragement, belonging, and shared experiences. It is where we learn important life lessons, grow together, and find support during challenging moments.

At Evergreen School, we strive to be more than a place of learning. We are a community where students, staff, and families work in partnership to create a safe, caring, welcoming, and inclusive environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging.

In the midst of our busy schedules, taking time to be together is a true gift. We hope this Family Day provides you with the opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy meaningful moments with the people who matter most to you.

Wishing all of our families a happy and restful Family Day.

UPDATES AND INFORMATION

Thank You Casino Volunteers!:  We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of the volunteers who generously gave their time and energy to work the recent fundraising casino. Critical to its success is our amazing Parent Advisory Council (PAC) who volunteer their time tirelessly behind the scenes to organize the Casino and liaise with the AGLC. Your commitment and support play a vital role in strengthening our school community.

The funds raised through the casino directly support extra activities and opportunities for our students, enhancing programs, experiences, and resources that enrich learning beyond the classroom. None of this would be possible without your willingness to step forward and help.

On behalf of our students, staff, and families, thank you for your dedication, teamwork, and generosity. Your efforts truly make a meaningful difference in our school.

Olympics Spirit: The excitement of the Olympic Games is in the air! Across our school, students have been taking part in mini-Olympics and Olympic-inspired activities, learning about the Games through classroom experiences. These activities help build enthusiasm while deepening students’ understanding of different sports and the values they represent.

Students are encouraged to support Team Canada by wearing red and white or to support their home countries by wearing the colours of the nation they are cheering for. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate teamwork, perseverance, and the diversity of nations coming together through sport.

Let’s fill our school with colour, pride, and positive energy as we cheer on athletes from around the world. We look forward to seeing everyone’s Olympic spirit on display!

Have a wonderful rest of your  Family Day Sunday!
