Dear Evergreen Families,
Last week Evergreen grade 1-5 students were privileged to see the Alberta Theatre Projects and Forte Musical Theatre’s performance of The Wizard of Oz, and it was amazing! Students felt like they were actually in Oz because the sets, lights, and costumes were so colourful and magical.
In chatting with students afterwards some of their favourite parts were:
- When Glinda, the Wicked Witch and a flying monkey went across the stage.
- When Dorothy threw water on the Wicked Witch and she disappeared.
- Toto was super cute.
- The Scarecrow could bend and flop around like he didn't have any bones.
- The Tin Man was funny and shiny, and the Cowardly Lion made everyone laugh because he tried to be brave even though he was scared.
- The Wizard was really good especially when Toto revealed that he was just a regular guy behind a curtain.
- One of the coolest parts was the Wicked Witch’s lair, which had bicycle wheels and parts everywhere to remind us of her bike in Kansas.
Thank you to Ms. Broomfield for organizing this amazing opportunity for students and to all our volunteers who made taking a group that size to downtown Calgary possible!
