Dear Evergreen Families,
Evergreen students spent the week learning and practicing the fundamentals of Lacrosse as part of a two-week residency funded by our Parent Advisory Council and monies raised through the Casino. Throughout the sessions, students were introduced to safe stick handling and the importance of personal space, along with an overview of basic equipment. They developed foundational skills such as cradling to control the ball while moving, as well as passing and catching with a focus on accuracy and soft hands. Students also practiced scooping ground balls using proper technique and worked on shooting with an emphasis on aim and follow-through. It was wonderful to see students building confidence, developing new skills, and enjoying this active learning experience together.
UPDATES AND INFORMATION
Bikes and Scooters: We encourage our students to ride their bikes/scooters to school.
During school hours we ask that:
- Students entering schools grounds get off their bikes (scooters, skateboards etc.) and walk them to the bike racks,
- Students wear helmets as they ride (as per Alberta Bike Helmet Legislation wherein individuals under the age of 18 must wear a safety helmet), and
- Students lock up their bikes and scooters outside to keep them secure.
We appreciate your support in reviewing these rules with your child and keeping the Evergreen School Community safe. Please see below Bike Safety Tips from Alberta Health Services and a video on Bike Safety for kids.

Appreciation for Support Staff: We were proud to celebrate Support Staff Appreciation Week and recognize the incredible contributions of our support staff who make a difference in our school every day. Throughout the week, they were warmly acknowledged by students, staff, and our School Council with thoughtful cards, small gifts, and many expressions of gratitude. It was a meaningful opportunity to highlight the care, dedication, and hard work they bring to supporting our students and school community. We are truly grateful for all that they do.
