It was a busy first week back from the break across Evergreen School. In Grade 3 math, students have been building a strong foundation in key numeracy skills. They are learning to add and subtract numbers up to 1,000 using standard methods, helping them develop accuracy and confidence with larger numbers. They are also working on mastering multiplication facts up to 10 x 10 and understanding how these relate to division, setting the stage for more complex math in later grades. In geometry, they have been exploring 2-D shapes by identifying features like parallel lines, perpendicular lines, and equal sides. Additionally, students are learning to measure length using metric units such as centimetres and metres, applying their skills in real-world contexts. This past week Grade 3 students were busy applying all these skills as they counted-up, measured, and planned a Mac and Cheese topple run with the boxes collected during the Mac and Cheese March Madness to be donated to the Calgary Food Bank. We are excited for Wednesday next week when the grade 3’s will create the domino topple run and host the tipping of the first box!
