In our Enhanced Education Supports (EES) classroom students explore a weekly letter of the alphabet through flexible groupings that support their individual learning needs and developmental stages. Activities are thoughtfully matched to each student's current understanding and fine motor abilities. Some groups focus on identifying letters and connecting them to initial sounds in familiar objects, while others work on printing skills or linking words to pictures. More advanced groups practice reading and writing complete sentences using capital letters and correct punctuation. Phonemic awareness remains a key focus, as it lays the groundwork for early literacy by helping students recognize letters, understand their corresponding sounds, and build essential reading and writing skills.
