This week, our hearts were warmed and our minds inspired by the Earth Day assembly presented by our wonderful Grade 2 students and teachers. With creativity, enthusiasm, and a deep sense of responsibility, they reminded us all how important it is to care for our planet.

As part of the assembly, students shared the story How to Be a Good Ancestor by Leona Prince and Gabrielle Prince, inviting us to reflect on how our actions today—caring for the land, water, air, and one another—can shape a better future. They thoughtfully highlighted Indigenous teachings about stewardship, respect for nature, and the responsibility we all share to honour those who came before us and those who will come after us.

Grade 2 students also sparked our imaginations by showcasing ways we can help keep our planet healthy, using creative loose parts displays ranging from biking instead of driving to conserving energy. Their skit on Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling was both engaging and impactful, reminding us that everyday choices matter. Through heartfelt performances of What a Wonderful World and the lively Re Re Re Recycle Rap,  their voices carried a powerful message that even the smallest actions can make a big difference. It was a beautiful reminder that our youngest learners often have the biggest ideas.
